How did I begin Lilly’s Journal?

I am an average person who was blithely leading an average life before I was completely and utterly blindsided by unimaginable betrayal.

I now yearn to be simply average again.

“Journaling can be very freeing”, my first therapist encouraged. My second therapist agreed, yet I was reluctant to pen my darkest thoughts. I fought against exposing my bruised heart to the light of day.

My third therapist was more blunt than either of the first two. “You need to start journaling now. Today. It’s vital. You need to walk along the beach, sit down, and look out over the waves. Let your mind relax and lean into the ebb and flow of your feelings. Then journal, journal, journal. Write whatever thoughts pop into your brain. Your thoughts and feelings are the key to your healing”, she directed.

And so I have begun journaling.

Along the way, I have embraced a new, wholehearted life.

These blogs are my journey through my dissection of what my life has been – what appears to be a poorly conceived ‘Lifetime’ movie, an anti-Hallmark movie. And hopefully lead to my happy ending. This is the Life of Lilly Strong; I am Lilly, I am strong!
