Welcome to the adventure of peregrination, dear friend. This week, we’re leaning into something both tender and empowering: the idea that healing doesn’t come with a deadline—or a straight path. There’s no perfect map. No one-size-fits-all recovery. And most importantly, there’s no expiration date on how and when you should begin.

What Is A Peregrination?
Our latest podcast episode is called “There Is No Expiration For Starting To Heal.” In it, I talk with my adult child about how healing after abuse and betrayal isn’t a simple journey—it’s a peregrination.
That word might sound fancy, but stay with me. A peregrination is a long, winding, often unpredictable journey… and isn’t that a much better description of recovery than a straight line from “broken” to “better”?
Healing looks different for everyone. For some, it’s loud and fast and fiery. For others, it’s quiet and slow—like the gentle thaw of winter ice. And sometimes, it looks like doing nothing at all for a while until you finally have the strength to take one tiny step.

You Have the Power To Choose Your Way
So, what will your peregrination look like?
Maybe you’ll find healing through creating art.
Maybe it will be through therapy, through rest, or through learning how to say “no” without apology.
Maybe it begins today—with one deep breath and a little bit of grace for yourself.
You don’t need to rush. You don’t need to keep up with anyone else. Your timeline is sacred. And no matter where you are, or how long it’s taken you to get here—you haven’t missed your chance.
Things to Ponder:
- What if healing isn’t something you do “right,” but something you allow?
- What would your inner child say if they saw how far you’ve come?
- Can progress look like standing still for a while and simply not giving up?
